Oils
I painted tribulation after experiencing an injury. The painting reflects the enormous "battle" I was dealing with. Colorado Witch Trees is painted from a reference photo where I was amazed to see human shapes in those archaic trees. I love to paint realism, and I love to paint life. I am not one typically for still life settings, as I enjoy the outdoors too much. As a diversion from doing so many portraiture and realism type work, I like to start to add my own flavor to the world of realism every now and then. Such as it was when I painted Colorado Witch Trees and Tribulation. I was enticed with painting the Colorado Witch Trees, as they appear to have human shapes to them. They are an extremely ancient tree where some experts claim they are older than the California Redwoods. Tribulation was painted with no references whatsoever. I started out painting a dragon and from there, with my love of horses, I included the knight and the horse. Once I had finished the painting I realized that through the centuries this painting ahs been painted before by other artists. I have since learned that these types of paintings are known as prophetic paintings and I was informed that there is a book on them titled St. Michael and the dragon. My favorite medium is oil, as I like to take my time when doing a painting and I find the medium suits me quite well. I also work in graphite, chalk pastels, and watercolors.
