To me, everything is influenced by pop culture, so I tried to find media representations of stereotypical suburb and city scenes. Then I stripped them of their aesthetics and replaced them with a minimal, alien-like veneer to make them seem foreign and novel instead of familiar. In the suburb piece, space is evenly allocated and personal, whereas in the city, space is stratified and impersonal. But despite their differences, they still appear a continuation of one another.
