Although I am very fond of this image, the story around the making of it is probably more interesting. I do though like the upside down cloud backlit by the moon, the cloud shaped like Cookie Monster. I stood out in my suburban backyard on a moonlit summer evening, in shorts and headphones listening to George Gershwin and drawing the landscape in ink. It was about 2 am when the lights of a squad car started flashing across the house you see in this image, my neighbor's house. I get busy thinking that my other neighbor thinks that I'm peeping and has called the cops on me. Honestly, I was minding my own business. I'm thinking that it's a curse on the men that live in my house. The last man to live in this house, a Hopkins Police officer was convicted of peeping on his neighbors. I thought that my neighbor might be goofy enough to call the cops on me. It's not goofy at all to be hanging out in a pair of shorts and headphones in the backyard at 2 am. It ended up that my neighbor had her very own problems, that had nothing to do with me. Poor thing. Life in the burbs is mostly very dull, but occasionally I can get a good drawing and a little story out of the deal.
