My art pieces are constructions of deconstructed ideas. I take ideas apart and put them back together; like retelling a story and accentuating the most essential, predominant, and exciting qualities. In my “stories”, I accentuate textures, brush strokes, and materials. Many times, my pieces have a structural element. In this particular piece, bicycling is used as a metaphor for moving through life: some move faster than others, but all move towards the inevitable obstacles which may disrupt their forward momentum or make them reflect. Some are brought to a halt by the obstructions encountered, others struggle and persevere, and some seem to easily navigate around obstacles fully expecting to maintain momentum. V. Vargas
