"Unicycle Dozen" was inspired by memories of bike battles secretly officiated under cover of darkness – wheels slamming, chicken drumsticks flying, losers pounding asphalt – not to mention swarms of maniacal cyclists in costume flooding the streets of downtown San Luis Obispo, CA each month with diapers, mustaches, tin cans, prom dresses, wigs, bathrobes, ghetto blasters, tall bikes and sofas on wheels. From this, the bubble heads emerge – awkward, goofy, determined, confused, playful. This painting is part of a collaborative series by visual artists Jimmy apRoberts (JA) and Brian Christopher (BC).
