ATTN: This is a submission for Rejected! not Creative Blood. Thank you. Statement: My piece explores the effect on the human psyche and body during periods of antevasin: the border zones, transitional eras, moments when one is neither here nor there. We all exist in this shared space and yet we all are from somewhere different, whether through shifting geography or shifting time. This forms our identities as residents of the Twin Cities. We are all birds migrating from point to point, picking up a new twig or piece of detritus as a story to build our nest as home. Even though my piece focuses on migration from one American urban center to another, it elicits questions of migration as a whole and fosters understanding of these twigs that cross borders (geographic and temporal) to form our collective nest in Minneapolis.
