Hamlet relaxing

Hamlet came to life through Shakespeare's pen around 1600, soon after people began performing the play and today it is one of the most well known plays in history. When I considered the theme performance art I automatically thought of Hamlet. I painted Hamlet off stage, perhaps before or after a performance relaxing. I put the beer in the painting with Hamlet to give it a time. If the beer wasn't there Hamlet could be viewed in the painting as existing any time from 1600 to 2008 but adding the beer forces the idea of this being a modern day actor playing Hamlet.
