bridge | mixed media paintings on wood panel SERIES STATEMENT This series of paintings were inspired by the exploration of the subject of forgiveness and reconciliation. Using familiar "forgiveness" symbols such as bridges, birds, and branches as a starting point – the visual translation turned to organic shapes and communication with color. Utilizing the "postcard" format/proportion as another means to convey the idea of communication and correspondence, the pieces contain lines… often divided up the space as well as the communication. The approach to the work is free, intuitive and not bound by particular rules, regulations or boundaries just as forgiveness, when authentic, is a rare and unbounded miracle.
