_________________________~ LOADED ART! ~_____________________ LOADED ART! is art for change not profit. Awareness through expression through action through art. LOADED ART! is a current American history and the state of culture as it unfolds today; - Culture as civilization (HD Cable on demand?) - Culture as world view (Superpower, protect and destroy?) - Culture as symbols (My IPOD and I go everywhere?) - Culture as a stabilizing mechanism (WAR?) During my last 2 years on the east coast I targeted my art on the current sate of the US government and foreign policy. During the 2004 Presidential elections the police were present to control the emotions of spectators viewing Joroko’s mixed media sculptures depicting US flags with holes blown out of them hanging at the Museum of Modern ARF in Arlington VA. The exhibition titled Breaking the Silence, Question Power Now More Than Ever was one of six War Shows targeted at the current state of the US Government. At the same time at the Warehouse Gallery on Capitol Hill in DC a 2nd war show War & Peace was held where Joroko displayed "oil" themed work questioning the intent of our current war. In NYC the New York Times has described his political work as "If Japser Johns had never lived, the artist who styles himself Joroko would have had to invent him, if only to destroy him", and "The annihilation of Robert Rauschenberg as well, but more in homage than in anger." Meanwhile back in DC Joroko’s installation at ArtOmatic, the largest east coast collaborative event encompassing over 700 artists under one roof, earned him the label of rePop meets Lecterism. A fierce blend of the power of war and iconic images that evaluated our means to an end. I am now engulfed in LOADED ART! be on the lookout for the LOADED ART! campaign… For more info visit www.joroko.com
