This painting is based on a line in the poem by Robert Frost, "Fire and Ice". It depicts the pain and isolation of victimization, specifically of those most often victimized: women, children and minorities. The distant faces represent everyone who refuses to readily see and acknowledge the devastating effects of these acts of spite and cruelty.
