This painting, "They Thought He was Dead", is symbolic, first because it is representative of the obvious problems plaguing our country as a result of the current administration's "jackboot" mentality. Second, and for me, more importantly, it is representative of the ease of which insane, unstable men can rise to power and commit unimaginable atrocities to their fellow man. Throughout history we've seen it again and again and the absurd part, is that people, like you and I, allow it to happen. Every living being on this planet is responsible for this planet and what happens on it. The sooner we stop being animals to one another, the sooner corrupt, maniacal regimes end for good. Art is power...so is a well placed bullet to the back of the skull.
