My first sketches for the Bike Art theme were varied. There was a bike next to a pot of flowers, a bike in triplicate stamped down a white page, and even a bike sunk underwater. After a while it became clear that for me, a bike is a symbol of precision and quiet. A machine on which one can both dream and meet challenges. In time a strong image emerged, and what you see here perhaps encompasses those qualities of balance, adventure, and solitude.
